At Hospitality Holdings, we believe that creating exceptional hospitality experiences goes hand-in-hand with being strong partners to the communities we serve. Our leadership team has a longstanding record of civic engagement, contributing to organizations that strengthen New York City’s cultural, business, and public-space ecosystem.
Our founder, Mark Grossich, was deeply committed to the vitality and stewardship of Midtown Manhattan. He served for many years on the Grand Central Partnership Board, helping guide the transformation and continued success of one of New York’s most iconic districts. Mark also served on the Vanderbilt YMCA Board, championing accessible community programs and youth development initiatives.
Continuing that legacy, Kenneth McClure remains a dedicated leader in New York’s civic and hospitality community. He currently serves on the Board of the Grand Central Partnership and the Advisory Board for Friends of Dag Hammarskjold Plaza, supporting the preservation, activation, and enhancement of key public spaces. Kenneth is actively involved with the Mayor’s Office of Nightlife and Hospitality, working to strengthen and elevate the city’s hospitality landscape.
In addition, Hospitality Holdings is a proud and active member of the NYC Hospitality Alliance, collaborating with industry leaders to support policy, education, and best practices that keep New York’s hospitality sector strong and forward-thinking.
Together, these commitments underscore our dedication to responsible stewardship, workforce development, and the continued vibrancy of New York City as a world-class destination to live, work, and visit.
Hospitality Holdings is the visionary company behind New York’s Most Refreshingly Civilized Places to Meet. Since 1998, we’ve crafted timeless, sophisticated venues where atmosphere, service, and storytelling come together to create experiences that feel distinctly, and enduringly, Old New York.
Founded by Mark Grossich, a pioneer in modern hospitality and design, the company is now led by his daughter, Katherine McGehee, who continues to advance his legacy of refinement, creativity, and authentic service.
Over the years, our portfolio has expanded to include some of Manhattan’s most iconic and historically rich spaces. Our current establishments include: The Carnegie Club, Bookmarks Lounge, Madison & Vine, and The Empire Rooftop.
Each venue reflects our belief that hospitality is an art form. Whether it’s a handcrafted cocktail enjoyed among the bookshelves of a classic lounge, a power lunch at a Midtown restaurant, or sunset cocktails high above the city, our spaces are designed for conversation, connection, and comfort.
Our values guide everything we do:
Authenticity — honoring the character of every space and neighborhood and preserving the art and civility of New York nightlife.
Excellence — committing to exceptional service, cuisine, and design.
Creativity — designing unique and curated experiences, menus, and spaces to delight our guests.
Integrity — operating with respect for every guest interaction and business decision.
Connection— fostering community through gracious, personal hospitality and a commitment to building and sustaining community with each neighborhood we serve.
For over three decades, we’ve remained dedicated to one simple idea: creating places where New Yorkers and visitors alike can meet, celebrate, and feel at home in the world’s greatest city.
Mark was the originator and creator of The Campbell Apartment. In 1999, he led the legendary restoration that transformed a long-forgotten space in Grand Central Terminal into one of the city’s most celebrated cocktail lounges—widely recognized as the crown jewel of Grand Central Terminal. The restoration project was covered in several media outlets and detailed in a New York Times article. Prior to the renovation, the space was in disrepair and had been used as a transit police storage facility and holding cell for decades. Under Mark’s vision, The Campbell Apartment focused on the space’s historic atmosphere through its design, cocktails, and experiences. While other bars manufactured history, The Campbell Apartment delivered the real thing by serving "cocktails from another era."

Campbell died in 1957, at which point the space took a strange turn. It served as a jail, a storage room for transit police guns, and a signalman's office. Water damage set in.Then in 1999, Mark Grossich and his company, Hospitality Holdings, took over the space. "It was basically a room of ground-up sawdust," he tells T&C. Hospitality Holdings, which operates other high-end bars and restaurants in the city, spent $2.5 million renovating the space, transforming it into the civilized cocktail den it is today. Grossich began serving what he dubbed "cocktails from another era" to those who would abide by the dress code he installed: "Proper Attire Required: Absolutely no Athletic Shoes, T‑shirts, Sweatshirts, Baseball Caps, Shorts or Torn Jeans."
